Have a Go

Got an email from our American correspondent Terry Luxton of Springfield Missouri, if you haven’t caught up with Terry’s story he spent his formative years right here in Pittsworth, his earlier letter below will explain all. As you will read in Terry’s latest letter he’s been having problems caused by the Global Economic Downturn like most of us, so he’s decided to bring his Aussie “get up and go” to bear and has started his own business, I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing him the best of luck for the future, now read on:

G,day Friends,
After 5 Months of dealing with unemployment and frustration, driving some of you potty ! I will be Launching my very own Business on Monday the 16th of March. “AUSSIE ROO RENTAL HOME REPAIR”

We have a saying in the old country ‘ HAVE A GO YOU MUG ! ” so I thought the only way to get a job is to give myself one.

You will see my Truck getting around Town from Monday in Springfield and I am pleased to say, I already have interested Clients.

If you are in the media, please don’t call me just yet in regards to advertising, I just don’t have the cash for you , call me in the summer, don’t worry as a former Clear Channel guy I know how important it is to advertise.

The main reason for this letter is to thank all those who have kept the faith in me, I am the first to admit, that when I am unemployed, I can be a little difficult to deal with, so I just wanted you to know that your support and faith in me has been welcomed.

So if you have property or know someone with property, Rental, Flipping a house,or your own home, Fences, decks, Painting,AC,Heat, ext: Just call the number on the attached file. I’ll give you a free quote

“A Radio Station in Pittsworth?”

I’ve received this e-mail from Terry Luxton and am
posting it below:-

You may not know me Chris, but my name is Terry Luxton and my Father owned the old Golden Fleece Store next to the Pool at 40 Yandilla Street. My brother Ross and I grew up in Pittsworth along with my Sister Maxine.

My Brother and I will turn 50 this year as we are twins. I am sure someone in town will remember us. We both live in the United States now, we were both High school dropouts.  Ross went to work at the Pittsworth Butchery and I went to work in the bakery in 1974.

Today Ross is an Airline Pilot for America 3000 and flies an Airbus A320 to Mexico and The Caribbean 4 times a week and I am about to take my Insurance Licence Exam. Not bad for a couple of High school drop outs.

I spent many years in Radio in Australia working for DMG Radio in Townsville , Mt Isa and Roma, and worked for 2 years here in America for the Clear Channel network at 100.5 The Wolf here in Springfield Missouri, also once every two weeks I talk to the ABC in West Australia.

My brother lives in Phillidelphia. We have both been around the world and both worked for the Walt Disney Company doing shows, and Rock Concerts in Europe and God knows what else.

It’s too hard to tell you everything we have done since 1974,  but we still remember Pittsworth and always will.

My Sister Judy Hintz is still living in the area – you may know her.

Like I said,  it would take forever to tell you everything we have done over the years but it’s been quite a ride since Pittsworth High School and we have done things we have never dreamed we could do.

I would like to leave the young people of Pittsworth a message. Just because you are in a small country town dose not mean you cannot do amazing things with your life.  Get out, travel the world, take a chance and do things you never thought you could do. You never know, it just might pay off.

An Aussie saying is Have a go Mate! You just never know (See pic attached) Ross is the guy with the big smile. This is in a pub in St Louis, Missouri. Stick it on your web site if you like, maybe someone will remember us. Give them my E-mail Address – <E-mail Terry Here>

I would love to catch up with some old school mates.

We currently have an Ice storm going on so I gotta go.If you want more on America, just let me know.  I would love to talk to you.

Cheers,
Terry Luxton
